Is it worth to use accented characters in the email?

Some languages using latin script have only few accented characters outside US-ASCII range. You can substitute accented ones with non-accented, but such text looks ugly and is hard to read. For many other languages it is out of the question - you must use characters outside US-ASCII to get anything readable. You may think that English is free from such problems, but it isn't so. Such characters as “ ” € £ § © common in books and magazines are outside US-ASCII as well.

It isn't safe just to type in such characters in your email program and expect that receiver will be able to read the text - you need to make familiar yourself with technicalities.
